Aug 12, 2012 - Alternatively, if the freezer is in a defrost cycle, it will not kick on immediately, the temperature ... Refrigerant circulates through coils, spreading coldthrough the unit interior before .... We have a kenmore upright deep freezer.
Hi! I am having this exact problem also. The best answer I have been able to discover is that it is related to the freezing up of the internal water tube that drains the fridge compartment into the freezer section. In addition, a pool of water freezes on the interior floor of my freezer and has to be manually chipped up and removed. I did try to unload the freezer and defrost it thoroughly, but it still happens and has to be chipped each week. I am still seeking a solution, but at least I can make the chiming stop by locking the temperature via the button on the front panel. Best wishes. If you discover a better or final soln, please post. I will do so as well.. Regards.
Make sure that power is reaching the motor after going thru the thermostat.
If juice is there replace the starting capacitor. If the motor gets hot but still does not run the rotor might be frozen - check with ammeter for abnormal current draw.
If compressor is frozen all you can do is replace unit.
I am Taking a guess at this. May or may not work. Have you tried unplugging the unit?, and leaving it unplugged for 5 or 10 minutes? I have noticed with everything these days having electronics involved, severing power often resets everyuthing to a default position. You might try it if you haven't already.
also, there should be in the owners manual an 800 number
to call for assistance from the mfr.thwy usually have a tech you can talk to. good luck!
Hello; My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician. The normal cycle is: Your compressor will turn on to raise the freezer temperature 20 degrees F. above the set temperature, and then the compressor will shut off, Until the freezer temperature drops 20 degrees F. below the set temperature and again the compressor will turn on.One of the main problems with this type of freezer is the door gasket becomes crushed over time or the door is so thin it becomes deformed.Do not try to replace the door gasket. You have to soak the new gasket in hot water for 1/2 hour and then form it on the door.If you notice a gap in the corner of the door - pull hard on it to get it flush.Recondition the door gasket - With a hair dryer and a kitchen spatula, heat the gasket and try to expand the gasket by pulling out with the spatula. You can purchase a special freezer lubricant. Be sure not to over do it. It can make the door hard to open. P/N 5426381/2 Oz. $12.00.
