The 1999 Isuzu Rodeo does not come with a fuel Inertia cut off switch. In case of an accident, the oil pressure switch comes into play i.e. if the engine shuts off and starts leaking oil. The oil pressure switch also cuts off the fuel pump power.

The ECM should get warm, but not hot. If it was supposed to run hot, it will have cooling fins on it.

First think to do is connect it to an an expensive scan tool, a $3,000 one that can read the codes and all of the engine management history. That will tell you what the problem it. Look at the Scotty Kilmer YouTube channel and 'scan tool' so see what information a good scan tool can give you.

The only tune-up procedures for diesel engines are to change the fuel filter, drain the water separator and check engine speed. How To Check Tappet Clearance
  1. Taking all safety precautions.
  2. Make sure the piston is on TDC. ...
  3. Make sure the engine has cooled down.
  4. Loosen the lock nut of the rocker arm.
  5. Now adjust the tappet clearance between the rocker arm & valve stem by tightening or loosing the nut below the lock nut.

To adjust the valve clearances, use a spanner or a socket wrench on the crankshaft-pulley bolt. Turn the engine in its normal direction of rotation until No. 1 piston is at the top dead centre ( TDC ) of the compression stroke .
