In Microwave Ovens - Page 6 - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support
The silver vent cover in the microwave is missing. Can I order a new one? Or is it necessary?
The only vent concerning a microwave that I'm aware of, is the vent that vents an over-the-range microwave. If I'm reading you correctly, your referring to the silver-colored plate at the top rear of the microwave that directs the airflow up and through the site-installed duct, or out through the front in a ventless installation.
Yes, this part is necessary. Without it, the vent fan will blow grease-laden air onto the bottom of the overhead cabinet. This will create a fire hazard.
If your attempting to describe a different part, re-ask your question by stating the brand and model microwave and the location of the part in question.
Microwave vs Induction
I find that cooking with induction is far safer than with Microwave ovens. The food is totally saturated with emfs when cooking in a microwave, whereas with induction it is not totally enclosed in concentrated emfs. Only problem is you can only use stainless steel or cast iron cookware (No aluminum base)
Microwave had aluminum foil in it. Inside light , cooling fan not working after cleaning
The microwaves will cause electrical currents in the aluminium foil which will heat up, and you will probably have sparks which could ignite any flammable material inside. If the fire and heat was contained inside the microwave and didn't reach the internal parts then you may be able to get it repaired, but the damage can only be assessed by taking the unit apart. If there was a lot of heat then my guess is that the internal wiring insulation may have melted, causing short circuit.
