iLO Televison & Video - Page 9 - Answered Questions & Fixed Issues

You're not trying to use the "Tuner" in the ILO are you? Bypass it and use the A/V cables from the "out" of the converter box. I think mine also has the coax type cable from the "to tv" to the ILO, then from the "to tv" on the ILO to the television. Either way should work. Mine works great, its a zenith and I have successfully recorded to discs in my ILO. Just change the Source back to the DVD source to watch a dvd or select the corresponding A/V connections that are hooked to your convertor box to watch/record television.

Usually it is a issue with the tiny switches under the control buttons on the set---ie the vol up (not the plastic button) switch is bad.

Keyboard issues and answers: A problem that is more common than most people think is an issue with buttons on the control keyboards of modern TV sets. Recently for whatever reason I have seen more questions about this so I have composed this answer and solution for these kinds of problems. It can be any button on the set-channel up/down or volume up down-you name it. The symptoms are the same: channel will scan up or down and will not stop-remote control has no effect on this---It can be channel, volume, or even input or menu if the set has those up front or on the side of the set. All these push controls have something in common-beneath each is a tiny momentary push switch-when pushed with the plastic button it performs a specific task (vol up or down etc.). What happens is the afflicted switch beneath the plastic button is bad-when released it is supposed to stop its function but does not. Keyboard or button controlled features have PRIORITY over the remote control, hence the remote will not stop this from happening. Both the remote and the keyboard go to the microprocessor in the se t but the keyboard is first in line. How to resolve this issue? Someone needs to get at the tiny pc board with the buttons and locate the one associated with the issue (ie sound or channel etc) and unsolder that switch from the board-usually just two pins (may be more for mounting only purposes) and then see if set does not have the issue with switch out of the circuit. For the TECH minded with the board out test here the switches with a ohm meter set to high resistance-any reading with button not pressed means a bad switch-seen ones that read 5,000 plus ohms-it may be necessary to unsolder more than one switch to locate the offender here but an open reading with switch not pressed is the rule. I have taken the time to compose this answer as some do not understand what is happening in these types of situations---No magic wand or smoke and mirrors here-have to disable the offending switch to know. The beauty (in my view) of this kind of problem is if found, you really do not have to replace any part-just operate the set with the remote with one button that no longer functions on the set itself-who could ask for more?

Go into the menu with the original remote and in the setup should be a selection for cable or air/antenna------you likely need the original remote to do this.

Visit the site named 'Electro-help' for more details. Click this link. View it in 'Flip card' option, which can be selected from the drop down box menu by the [Sidebar] tag, at the top left corner of the display window. It will make search easy. There are more than 900 posts to different brand TVs now. Pull up older posts there.

Blinking red light indicates some fault to its main board. Contact any experienced service technician.

No. To select inputs, you must have its remote control.

Follow the power cord or power jack, it will lead you straight to the fuse. While most fuses snap into fuse holders, some manufacturers solder their fuses in place.

You will need to have the set professionally diagnosed. You could either have a faulty power supply or main board. You could also try unplugging the set for a bit and plugging it back in. I doubt it will solve your problem but it is worth a try.

You can go into the settings on the TV, and tell it to do an auto search, but are you using the same cable?

You said from "a cable" to "a cable", implying you are moving it to a different room or something.

If that's the case, it's entirely likely that you just don't have signal in that room/cable. If that is not the case, then it is also entirely likely that the signal sent by the cable provider is essentially only available through the box (check with the cable provider for details on that... lots of variables there).

If this is an LCD TV, show a flashlight from a safe distance and check you can see the pictures. If you can, the backlights have got affected. If not, there are some defects in display board or display itself. That anyhow should be investigated only by a qualified service technician.
