Husqvarna Sewing Machines - Page 6 - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support

On my machine, I use a size 18 needle with an 8 to 9 tension. Could try that. :-)

No, the Scandavania 300 doesn't have embroidery stitches built in. Embroidery patterns come on a memory card; the card reader is on the side of the machine above the power switch. The machine originally came with a card with 25 "sampler" patterns. There are only 20 pre-programmed stitches, including a blanket stitch/hand-look applique stitch. See page 32 the manual,$FILE/Scandinavia300_manual_EN.pdf , for the list of included stitches. See page 20 for setting up for embroidery.

If you don't have that memory card, some may be available on E-bay. However, you'll need to check that the card is compatible with the Scandavania 300. Most of the cards I've seen on E-bay are programmable ones that require a separate reader/writer that connects to your computer. Many of the writers are not supported for newer versions of the Windows OS; the drivers weren't updated.

I hope this helps.

Here is a recent answer of mine on the same question: : Q: Why isn't the Needle Thread picking up the Bobbin Thread? A: Steps to Resolve: Take all of theses these steps before trying to pickup the Bobbin Thread again. 1. Check to be sure the needle is properly installed and threaded. 2. Check if the Bobbin and Bobbin thread is properly installed. 3. Remove any thread tangle or lint from under the needle plate. 4. Remove the Bobbin, Bobbin Case and Hook Assembly. 5. Clean, Oil and Reassemble Hook Assembly and Bobbin Case. 6. Install a new needle according to owner's Manual. Very important. 7. Test for Bobbin Thread Pickup. 8. If problem persists, the machine Timing is likely off. 9. Check Timing: a. Remove Needle Plate (Feed Dog Removal is optional for better view). b. While turning Handwheel (Top of Wheel Toward Operator), observe the Hook. The Tip of Hook should pass behind the Needle shaft, just above Needle Eye, at each upward needle cycle. c. If the Tip of the Hook lags or precedes the Needle on it's upward cycle, that means your machine has slipped out of proper Timing and needs to be Re-Timed. Machine Repair shops usually charge about $90 to Time your machine. With a lot of patience, study and persistence you can time your own machine. Timing a machine is outside of the scope of this reply, but many U-Tube videos will go into great detail of how to Time your machine. Service Manual instructions with diagrams can walk you through it. Timing is very do-able, if you are the slightest bit mechanically inclined, but is still a little tricky the first time (till you find the correct gear, with two set-screws, to adjust). With a little persistence, you should be able to Time your machine. Sincerely, Amender 2019-JAN 06 P.S. If your machine needs Timing, I wrote a post since the one above that goes inot what is needed.

Remove the cover on the left side of the arm and there is a knob that you push to the right and turn it down.

Your tension is off. Start by using the sewing computer setting for thick fabric. Sew "test swatches" on scraps of the fleece you're planning to sew until your swatch stitches look correct.

Hello Tucker
Make sure that the USB stick is firmly attached to machine. Refer to pages 175 and 176 of the Owner's Manual which can be found at this link:

The Knowledge Centre starting on page 82 of Manual will also provide additional information.

The machine should have the latest update as well to insure that all the 'help' menus are available to you.

Please give me a 'thumbs up'

Happy Stitching
