All you have to do is remove the latch jumper. It is the black piece beside the wire terminals.

Thermostat problem; Honeywell chronotherm lll ' Low Batt. indicator Keeps blinking after Batteries replace. I chk'd batt. with elect. volt ntr. Was told to pull batt. and change ends with them , letthem stay reversed for 5-10 sec. then put them back in right order,and replace thermostat. No success!
Anyone have any answers

I had blank screen also. I placed my screwdriver between the battery terminal and battery tab and voila the screen turned on. I removed the batteries, pulled the tab out, replaced the batteries, and the thermostat is working like a champ again.

check if it has a safety switch in the base as it may not be making contact with the surface the fan is sitting on.
It has a timer maybe cause ?

Off position then reverse batteries polarities and wait 5 sec. Then place new batteries back to normal position.

Just had the "snapping" problem over the last 5 weeks. First try was to wash the cells in the normal fashion. when the snapping started again in a week I washed the cells in the dishwasher. They began snapping again in a week or less so I removed the cells and made a very close inspection of them. Using a very bright light I noticed the wires had a very uniform coating of something light gray in color. I picked at that coating with my finger nails and it came off to reveal the BARE wire underneath, Ah Ha, that coating was NOT supposed to be there ALL the time. So, CAREFULLY using my fingernails and a bit of wooden stick I scratched off that coating on all of the wires (it goes all round the wire) to reveal the bare wire and now it works with out snapping. Those wires can be broken if you are not careful. They can be replaced but that's just more hassle than being careful.
Good Luck, be careful, it can be done by the homeowner (and should be done too).

the residue that you are seeing is Calcium, it is a natural mineral that is found in all water, the easiest way to remove the calcium build up from your humidifier screen is to use (CLR) it is a calcium, lime and rust remover, a simple diluted mixture with water, then soak the screen for about half an hour, rinse the screen then reinstall, a soft water system would help with the calcium build up as well, but tend to be alittle on the spendy side, your could try inline mineral filters that need replacing yearly, I really hope that helped ansewr your question, let us know with some feed back, thanks again for your question, mr.grzz

There is a battery inside the thermostat. No one seems to know about this battery. If the battery is dead thermostat won't work. Pop thermostat apart, test battery and replace.battery. I am not 100% sure this is your problem, for your thermostat, but I have come across this problem before. Good Luck Friend.
