to start with the basics, make sure there is enough water flowing through the system to activate the heater. you can put sand filter in whirlpool or bypass mode. if there is enough flow through the system, make sure the heater isnt on bypass. make sure that the gas supply is turned on at the heater AND at the meter. if your heater has a pilot light, make sure it is lit. if you still have issues, you will have to get a service company in

even when the unit is off (but powered up), there should be information on the display board. if not, the heater will not work. all the boards 'communicate' with each other

it's possible there is a blockage in one of the lines---those tubes are a very popular place for spiders to build a nest. check especially where you see curves in any of the tubes

Could anyone tell me where on the control panel I would find the Diode D1 on the board? "agreed; it's usually the diode D1 on the board...a 75 cent part"

if you got zapped ignitor is working try to clean up make sure gas valve has 24 volts to the brown and yellow wires

The gas leak could be coming from somewhere other than the spa.I recommend you get a gas fitter to check out your gas system.
