Driving normal-then shut down-motor, seems
Hi,from the problem you are encountering with your bike, its obvious that the fault is from the engine coil, the internal teeth of the coil is bad and needs a replacement, which means the coil need to be changed.
Thanks and take care
Can i put regular transmission fluid in my 08
You should only be running Harleys transmission fluid in that transmission. According to the factory actually the only acceptable substitute is Bel Ray 85-140 Hypoid Gear Oil and actually it is what I prefer to run as it is red and if ever you have a transmission leak you will know it as it is red and that will automatically ID your leak. Good luck thanks for using Fixya.com
Starter removal
It's quite a process to remove a starter on a sportster. I changed one for my friend on his 03 sportster. You have to take alot of stuff off to get to the bolts that hold it on. Can I suggest getting a service manual for the bike. Trust me it's worth its weight in gold. I've done alot of work on my sportster and my friends sportster and would never attempt anything without the book. As far as the starter, From what I remember, I had to remove the exhaust pipes then the primary cover, and I'm sure there were more parts, but you need to know what gaskets you will need to replace. Good Luck. And go get the book. I got mine at Barnes and Noble. and my friend got his at the Harley dealer. Have fun.
Hi: My 2004 Harley will only run when leaving
sat up too long pull the carb bowl remove the jets clean and reinstall them pull your petcock off clean the screen put in good gas,and you should be set when you turn the gas on if the bowl vent leaks gas tap the carb bowl the float needle will find its seat and run
Engine backfires through the carburator
more likely an intake leak timeing doesnt just go off on its own if you still have points it could be the condensor but id be changing that to electronic ignition anyway a complete ultima ignition system is lees than 2 bills and not real hard to install "good instructions"

Blowby in 2003 1200 custom harley
The unit I had the best luck with is the whimmer big air kit. I've installed a couple of them and the customer's really like them. You can also run your oil level on the low side as well. That will help reduce the amount of oil whisping through the air filter. Remember that when yo replace the umbrella valves that you update your breather kit to the newer style. I believe you have the multiple piece breather assembly. The newer metal one piecr seems to work really well too. I’m happy to assist further over the phone at
