Hi, Aj_harrell and the usual suspects are:
1. Choke not functioning properly.
2. The battery is not fully charged 12.5 volts or better.
3. Throttle not fully closed.
4. The intake manifold is loose or cracked and sucking air.
5. The air cleaner not sealed properly or missing element.
6. Air fuel mixture not adjusted properly.
7. Valves adjusted too tight.
8. Low compression top end needs a rebuild.
9. Engine oil to heavy for cold temperatures.

Hi, Mybkischry starting in 1996 Harley made available an optional security system with a Button Key Fob that had to be depressed to arm and disarm the system. In 2007 the smart security system was introduced in European countries with a buttonless proximity sensor Fob that only works within a 10-foot radius depending on battery strength and sensor receiver location. In 2012 Smart Security Systems became standard equipment on some models. In 2015 it was standard on all models. The following is a list of security system FOB failure:
BUTTON FOB'S
1. The FOB battery is weak or dead.
2. A new battery was installed upside down.
3. The FOB is no longer recognized by the security system and needs to be reprogrammed by the dealer.
PROXIMITY SENSOR FOB'S
1. Fob is more than 10 feet away from the bike.
2. The FOB battery is weak or dead.
3. A new FOB battery was installed upside down.
3. The security receiver antenna is broken.
4. The FOB is no longer recognized by the security system and needs to be reprogrammed by the dealer.
There is an option to override the security system by inserting a pre-programmed pin number. This is a 5 digit number that comes from the factory as 1-2-3-4-5. If you read your owners manual it "HIGHLY" recommends that you change this number to a personal one. You can do this yourself but it is complicated and tricky sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I have a 2003 FLHTCUI that the procedure did not work and had to go to my local dealership to have the system reprogramed to my own personal number. They wanted $50 for this 2-minute service but after explaining that I was a 40 year retired Harley wrench and waving a $20 bill to the service writer got me through. Money talks but not all the time.

Hi Anonymous, you may have a faulty TPS (throttle position sensor) and testing your TPS is very simple. It is a potentiometer the same as a radio volume control knob or the float sensor in your gas tank that sends a signal to the fuel gauge. The connector to the TPS has 3 wires, the power wire with 5 volts max is red/white, the ground wire is black/white, and your signal wire to the ECM is grey/violet. Whatever voltage the signal wire reads at the TPS connector in any throttle position should match exactly at the connector to the ECM. There was no video for a Harley to test the TPS, only one from the early Magneti Marelli system that only shows how to set cold and warm idle, so I have enclosed two back to back videos on how to test a car TPS, the procedure and voltage readings in the first video are exactly the same on your Harley as is the ohm readings in the second video. Basically, you want smooth and even readings throughout the throttle plate position from fully closed to fully opened. A new TPS from Harley is $37.00. I don't know if you can take a defective one apart to access the rheostat to see if it just a dirt or corrosion issue that can be repaired with contact cleaner. For more information about your issue please visit the websites below and for specific information or questions you can reach me at [email protected] Good luck and have a nice day.

If the ABS is the same as 4 wheelers the brake system is or should be fine. The anti lock brake system isn't working. Ussually when light stays on there's a problem with the ABS. A HD tech checked it out ?? You should be able to find a code which will tell you the problem. and Harley devidsom abs should be check by computer system computor.

Hi, Anonymous before testing any electrical component in the Turn Signal Light Circuit it is "IMPERATIVE" that you have a fully charged battery of 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test because your battery may have 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amps causing the battery to be faulty and must be replaced, "AGM" batteries fall into this category more so than lead-acid types, also before diagnosing any turn signal/running light/parking light issue make sure the bulb is good and the light fuse has continuity with a test light. If you have replaced your OEM lights with one or all LED lights you are going to need a load equalizer.
If no turn signals are working the cause could be a faulty turn signal module/flasher or the connector going to it, look for, corroded, loose, or broken pins/sockets. Contact spray cleaner is great for removing corrosion.
If your turn signal comes on but takes several seconds before it starts flashing you may have dirty contacts in the turn signal switch/button, the switch needs to be opened up and cleaned also the flasher may be starting to fail. It should be noted that cold weather will only exacerbate the situation especially when temperatures drop down below freezing and the location of the component, turn signal switches on the handlebar are at the mercy of the oncoming freezing 70 mph wind and makes it hard for the contacts to do their job covered in frozen grease/grime
If all four turn signals flash at the same time like hazard lights even though you only pressed one turn signal button then you have a LED light in the circuit and need a load equalizer that can be purchased from any motorcycle parts supplier.
If your speedometer does not function properly it will have to be fixed first because your turn signal module gets the data from the speedometer for normal turn signal function.
If your front turn signals don't work use a test light to check for power and ground at the bulb socket, then start backtracking the wiring through every wire connector to the turn signal switch/button and check for continuity, go all the way back to the fuse if necessary to find the cause of the malfunction.
If your rear turn signals don't work check your rear fender wiring harness connector first, for corroded, broken, loose pins/sockets, power, and a good ground, the harness connector is usually located under the seat on the front of the rear fender then keep tracing the wiring look for obvious harness damage caused by the rear tire.
If you still can't find the malfunction backtrack from the rear fender wiring harness connector.
If one side does not work you could have a faulty turn signal switch or module check for continuity.

Hi, Anonymous the following is a systematic procedure for diagnosing fuel pump issues designed to keep "DRACHMA" to a minimum:
1. Normal fuel pump pressure is 55-62 PSI.
2. Check the white plastic convoluted tubing for age-related pinholes by removing and plugging the end that connects to the quick disconnect check valve and then turn on the ignition switch and look for fuel streams exiting the pinholes, if any exist, replace tubing as necessary. $38 from Harley $20 from eBay.
3. Check for a clogged a primary fuel filter that comes off the bottom of the pump to screen out big rocks and clean as necessary.
4. Check for a clogged secondary fuel filter by removing it from the system and replace it with a short splicing tube turn on the ignition switch and recheck fuel pressure if pressure increases to the normal pressure you need a new filter $ 166 from Harley $40 from Drag Specialties on eBay.
5. If all the above check out OK then you need a new fuel pump $ 324 from Harley $ 60 from Amazon and eBay.

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Severely discharged or a damaged battery should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead-acid batteries.
2. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
3. Faulty main circuit breaker and or connections.
4. Faulty ignition coil and or connections.
5. Faulty spark plug, oil or gas fouled, wrong heat range or service type, wrong gap, loose in the cylinder head, broken electrode or insulator.
6. Faulty spark plug cables, leaking or broken, internal damage check for spark leakage in the dark.
7. Faulty ignition module, switch, CKP, MAP, CMP, sensor and or any connector in the ignition circuit could have corroded, loose, or broken pins/sockets
8. Burnt exhaust valve or air leak in the exhaust system.
9. Improper valve clearance (too tight).
10. Check for generated diagnostic codes.
