Short run time and redlight, stops running Fellowes DM15C
There are two sensors (look like little light bulbs) on the top part of the shredder at either end of the blades. If you pull out the drawer and turn the shredder upside down you will see them. They get dirty telling the machine that it is full and needs to be emptied. Clean the sensors off with an alcohol wipe. If cleaning them does not work you need to replace the sensors.
We have a Fellowes Powershred C0320C shredder which will does not take the material to be shredded except on one end and does not pull it in and shred it.
Try to use the reverse action of the shredder. This runs the shredder blades in reverse and sometime CLEARS the left over shredded material that can cause a malfunction. Careful...watch your fingers as the blades are sharp and they can injure you. Never place your hands or garments near the open blades when it is plugged in.
Check also that the small switch is free and clear of derbies. When the cutting gears are in place on the container box, the small actuator switch is free to turn on or off until the shredding box is full. Once the box is full of shredded material the switch will turn off (a safety provision) and you must empty the container before it will operated again.
Shredder stuck, no power light, but power strip works
shredders do not have a long life time and are finicky. You have to pull all the paper out of the shredder to unjam it. I have trashed several. Be careful to not exceed the page limit as to how many pages it can shred. This is the primary cause of jamming. Also, using some light weight oil (3 in 1, for example) should be part of routine maintenance. good luck darlin
