I have just figured out the wiring to my Encon 5TD42WHC ceiling fan. (This is not to say your fan won't be different.) You can't use just any switch; the switches vary in operation. See the images attached. Good luck, and be careful working with AC voltages.

Always by the number. I'd you do it by position you could get the speeds mixed up as well as connecting just two speed connections an get nothing

I usually get my fan capacitor at the local lighting store. Another option is e-bay, But I haven't had good luck ordering them from the manufacture.

Try Switchco at 1-800-365-4548, they have a few styles of hangers. Maybe they can help you. Can't hurt to ask.

No. The new switch should have two black wires. Just connect the same way.

Make sure the fan light wire is connected in the ceiling otherwise you might need a new pull chain for the light.

I would take it back, then go to a ceiling fan store and get a better one.
