I have purchased many different computer cords from stores, flea markets, and yard sales. Sometimes, you can find a small computer repair shop in your local area that will help you with the cords you might need and if you are really lucky, they might give you one or at least have a used cord to sell you. I know power cables can run 10 to 25 dollars retail, but I have purchased them for a little as a dollar from yard sales.

I had something similar happen to ma about a year ago, I moved my tower a couple inches to reach for something that fell and then my screen was "colorful". Turned out that I just knocked my monitors cable out just enough that it was not working properly. I would first check to see if either end of the monitor cable has come loose from the computer tower or the monitor itself. I have also had the colors go wild when I had a faulty video graphics card, but I would start with the cable first to make sure it is secure.

Knowing the beep pattern will help diagnose the issue. Power on the computer again and listen for long beeps and/or short beeps. There are other possibilities, but if you just cleaned out the computer, I suspect you might have dislodged a memory stick. Make sure they are seated completely and the white tabs are locked securely in place. The beep code you hear will ultimately help determine where the failure is happening.

Check that you have electrical power to the drive, i.e., push the button to open/close the tray.

Check that the "data" cable from the motherboard to the back of the drive is tightly-connected at both ends.

Or, spend $40, and buy a brand-new, CD/DVD, reader/writer, in order to replace the "dead" device.

try booting to safe mode. by using f8if that works, try a system restore to a previous date. if that does not help, then it must be a windows corruption and parallel install or repair install will be needed, it can also be fixed by manual troubleshooting and repairing the files.

How to Boot Your Computer in Safe Mode

"Stumble" is not an appropiate computer term. I don't understand what do tyou mean by getting or not a picture when you stumble

Restart your computer now as soon as you hit the power button keep on holding Alt key & keep on tapping F10 key Alt+F10 it will open the recovery console select full factory restore and follow on screen instruction

(Note:this will erase all datas on the computer)

or you might tryDuring the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS you can load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults ,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart

Anything labeled with a "P", such as your P7, is a power connector from your power supply. Most, if not all, computer power supplies have extra connectors so that you can install extra components, like a second DVD drive or second hard drive, if you have room in your case.

Take off the side panel, then remove the front panel by leveraging the black plastic clips that hold it to the metal chassis. Under the front panel will be the screws holding the dvd drive caddy in place which when removed reveals the hard drive.

Check and see if there's a Disk in your CD/DVD ROM Drive. I assume there's on in there that has some bootable files and your computer see's it and is asking to boot from it. Usually it will say something like "Press any key to boot from CD" so if you don't want boot from that CD just don't press any keys.

make sure you install all the network drivers (wired, wireless) then set up your home network to talk to your router(if you have one)

If you have another monitor change it see if that helps, If it doesn't tale the monitor to a service center (Best Buy) and the will test it for you. Terry
