My Pansonic DMR-EX78 has suddenly stopped working properly.
Sorry but this is not good news. You can try unplugging the unit and leaving it for about five minutes. Then seeing if it comes back on.
If it doesn't and goes back to the above performance, if you have a disc in the drive still, there are instructions in the manual I think on how to get a stuck disc out. But if it still won't return to normal, I'm afraid to say the machine is junk. Since Panasonic will charge you as much as what you paid for for a new DVD drive. For that is what has failed. One thing you can do if it is not under warranty, is take off the top cover and look at the DVD drive. If it is a sealed unit then, it will need to be replaced. Panasonic want about £400 for one! If it's not you might be able to get it fixed.
If it is under warranty then they will repair it and you have saved a lot of money. If not then it's junk.
I once bought a newer model than yours and it did the same thing as yours, after 1 month use!! It turns out that Panasonic are not as good as they used to be and most are made by a company called Vestal who are rubbish!
