Follow the below steps to resolve the issue,
1. Choose Menu on the main screen.
2. Scroll to Weather and choose OK.
3. Choose OK.
4. Enter a city of choice and choose Select.
5. This screen will display, and you will hear a beep. The beep denotes that the certificate on the handset is incorrect. Choose Cancel.
6. Choose Yes to cancel. Note that this screen may or may not appear. If it doesn't, it just means that it's been automatically processed, so you can move ahead to step 7.
7. Choose Options.
8. Choose Install using the OK button.
9. Please choose any 4 keys, such as 1234, then choose Options.
10. This screen will be displayed to confirm the certificate has imported and updated.
11. It will then continue to search for the city that was entered in step 4.
12. It will then display the list of cities based on the one you entered in step 4. Choose OK to select the city you would like.
13. The weather for the desired city will then be displayed.

You are losing signal and cannot connect to the network. Signal strength may be affected by weather or other conditions. You might find the X disappears when you change location, for example. So, the problem may be in the environment, in the network, or in the SIM card. If it is a bad SIM card, such has to be replaced. If it is a network problem, you would have to contact your service provider. And you can't do much about the weather other than try the phone is a different location. Generally, a red X means a function is not available and you have to go into setup to enable the function. But in this case, you are having network connection problems where the phone cannot detect the signal.

Instructions for a different model suggest besides turing off and on, to try removing the battery and inserting it again.

Last resort step is to wipe it out and restore it which will erase all information on it unfortunately.

After searching the internet using, I saw the following suggestion on the web site below.

To disable airplane mode, from the home screen, please press the up arrow (on the navigation ring). There, scroll right to {Airplane Mode), then select OK to toggle it off.
