The digital box should have a round threaded output connector on its back panel. These are usually marked "OUT TO TV" or "RF OUT" or something similar. There may also be a slide switch nearby to select channel 3 or 4 output to the TV. On some boxes the output channel selection is through and on-screen menu. You only need to connect the output of the digital box to the TV's antenna connector, then tune the TV to channel 3 or 4 depending on the box setting. Leave the TV on that channel all the time and do your channel changing on your digital box using its remote control.

If your TV has an AV input for connecting a device like a VCR or DVD player, you can probably connect the digital box that way. No I really doubt that the remote would be capable of operating that device, they are made mostly for TV and related equipment like DVD players and such.

Check whether the audio is muted by accidental press at remote control button. Enter its sound menu, and check it. If muted, as you know there will be no audio output. If not muted, check the speaker/s. If found OK; check and replace the damaged component/s at its audio output section circuit board. If needy, replace this board as card basis. Had the same issue. The biggest task was figuring out how to take the TV apart. Two screws at the top, three each on the tires which I gently pried off with a flat screwdriver using the center of the wheel to pry from, two screws that were hidden under the tires and the two screws at the video plugs at the back. Next remove the circuit board by removing the 4 screws. BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL AS HIGH VOLTAGE IS STILL PRESENT WITHOUT BEING PLUGGED IN!. If you do this carefully you wont have to unplug all the plugs. If you do have to remove them mark each one with a colored marker marking the board and the plug. This helps when you have to plug everything back in. Now looking under the back of the board the tall black high Voltage transformer that has the red wire going to the TV tube has really poor solder connections. I found three cracked. I re-soldered all ten of the pins. Plugged everything back in and now it works.
