From your description it sounds like the bearings on the armature seizing up . Mainly the bearing on the bottom towards the pad. I see it a lot . It'll seem ok when turned on but under a load it can stop , slow down , smoke ....I'd start by checking the bearings. If it was the cord power would cut in and out completely. It doesn't have a variable speed switch or any speed sensors on that model. .if you have any questions feel free to ask and give as much detail as possible plz.

reading the user manual reveals that it requires oil before using and regular oiling during use that is simply attained by disconnecting the air line and putting a few drops of machine oil in the connection and reconnecting the air back up that oil then lubricates the seals and piston of the machine do that and it most likely will work again

find out what thread direction the screws are before going brutal---an impact driver may have to be use to remove screws---don't know if they used lock tight on them or not from factory---impact driver is a tool that you insert in to the screw then rap the end of the driver with a mallet/hammer---this action keeps the screw bit buried in the screw and twists at the same time after being hit----this will work only if there's no lock nuts opposite the screw (other end).----GL

Trigger may be stuck try a little singer oil or sewing machine oil only a few drops should do it... trigger switch may not be working properly either

try pushing the front roller in towards the back it is most likely a spring loaded arm that when pushed back will activate a trip lock to hold it back after fitting a new belt release the trip lock spin the belt by hand and use the knob that you were turning to center the belt on the pulley if you do not do that , then on starting the belt may run off the pulley

WHAT ISSUES ARE YOU HAVING WITH THE UNIT

It's common for the brushes to pop out of place causing partial contact to the armature . If there not damaged you can simply slide the brush and holder back in place or replace if damaged. .another common issue is the leads going to the motor can become damaged . Most of the time you can clean the terminals and reattach them to the motor .if loose use pliers to carefully squeeze the terminals to the contacts on motor . .I hope that helps !
