Error Message: Drive 2 not found: Parallel ATA, PATA-0 (PRI IDE MASTER)

Anonymous, Did you set the jumper on the drive to cable select? Check to what the jumpers on the back of the drive is set to. You should have 3 selections. primary, secondary and cable select. Thank You, Dell-Jesse L Dell Social Media and Communities

How do I restore a Dell B110 Deminsion to factory setup without the disc?

Without the disc you can do nada. Of course if you wanna buy a set from HP they will be delighted to sell you recovery discs if still available. Some HP's have the recovery software on a separate partition of the hard drive. If the above is a newer unit it just might have the software and the program to install it already in it Hp units usually come bloated with lots of trash software, some of which can be problematic in removing. U might just be better off installing a fresh copy of the OS of choice and taking it from there.

No beeps but lights A B are orange

....and lights C, D are green, and your computer fails to boot up ? (you do not say) (on Dell PCs, which I don't have, the LEDs are usually described as yellow and green. There are four of them on rear of the PC ?). First go to this webpage: Product Support if you are able run the Dell Diagnostics, or if not the ePSA. Also read this manual - the only one available specifically for Dimension 4100 - http://downloads.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_dimension_desktops/dimension-4100_Service%20Manual_en-us.pdf especially the section on safety. If you have to open the case remember to properly earth yourself. To the answer to your question, if the 4600 model has the same codes as the 4100 see the service manual for the Dimension 4600 (or get the corresponding manual for the 4100 by contacting Dell support) look here http://downloads.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_dimension_desktops/dimension-4600_service%20manual_en-us.pdf in the Advanced troubleshooting section. It tells you the problem may be with your memory module(s) and it suggests what to try. I favour checking to see if you get correct errors with no memory inserted then with each module in each slot until all 4 combinations have been exhausted. This likely to tell you what is wrong. You may have to replace a memory module, or work with only one module or replace the motherboard. 23.June.2015

How do I open the case and remove the hard drive?

Unplug the unit from electricity, wash & dry your hands, take steps to avoid you transmitting static electricity(look it up if you are not familiar). There are several sheet metal screws around the edge in the back of your CPU. Remove the ones that appear to join the outer lip to the inner lip all the way around. The front & back should now separate into 2 pieces. One the shell & the other the bulk of the system. The hard drive is usually located on a standard mounting shelf by itself with 1 or 2 small screws holding it in on the side with 2 wire connections in the back. The larger is a ribbon cable the is used for data & the other is the power cable. pull out the cables, unscrew the screws & the hard drive slides out. Some boxes may have something that blocks your access to screws, if so, temporarily remove them so you can work. If you are not sure of a potential problem...take a smart phone picture so you can see how it goes back together.

Type password and I have replaced the battery in my computer. The message I am receiving on the screen is Diskette drive 0 seek failure.

For the diskette drive 0 seek failure, does the computer skip past this error without difficulty ? If it does, then you may ignore it. It is caused probably by your replacing the battery having reset the BIOS which is thinking now it should find a floppy disk to boot from. If you haven't a floppy disk, or have floppy disk drive you will get this message. I do, but I ignore it. When you power up, you could try entering the BIOS setup, by pressing for example, the esc, F1, F2 or F8 keys - for your model I don't know which, you may find out from the internet, your manuals, or the Dell website/help or support - repetitively before the computer starts, ( from Dell support - "You can enter the system BIOS or Setup on a Dell PC by pressing F2 at the Dell loading screen").and somewhere the BIOS setup there should be the boot order change this to CD first (no CD inserted unless it is bootable), then USB if available (no media USB inserted, some USB devices are ok), the HDD. You should not set HDD first because this will give you big problems if it goes wrong and you need to boot from somewhere else. Put floppy disk after HDD and the message will disappear. I don't know about the password issue. I suggest you contact Dell support on this topic. Power led flashing. Why won't it boot?

Hi Jeremy, My name is Pradeep and I work for Dell's Social Media Team. The flashing LED power light means the power supply is receiving power from the source, but is unable to properly distribute it to the components. Please turn off the system and unplug only the power cable and disconnect external devices. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds. Plug in the power cable and check the status. Please remove CMOS battery and wait for 5 minutes to drain the power from motherboard. Please try reseating with spare CMOS battery and check the results. If this doesn't , please contact local technician for further assistance. How can I change the password on my computer?

Robin Guzy, You will need to start the computer and tap the F2 key to enter the bios. Tab to where it reads the diskette drive and choose to disable the diskette drive. If you have a diskette drive you will need to replace it. Not many uses for diskette drives these days. For the password, you will need to try and remember the password or use a password recovery disk. This disk would have been created by you. If you did not create a password recovery disk you are going to either format and reinstall Windows or search the internet for programs that will recover your password. Why won't the DVD drive eject?

Rochellewar, Go to my computer and right click on the dvd drive and choose the Eject option. If that does not resolve the issue look to see if you have a small pin hole on the front of the DVD drive. If so, insert a paper clip into the hole to eject the drive.
