AOL Software

Hi there,

The file which is missing is located in
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AOL\C_America Online 9.0\idb\SNMaster.id

Browse to C:\Program Files\AOL 9.1\ and double click on aol.exe. It should start just fine.

To copy the AOL data files and move them to the right location:
1. Click the Start button, then open My Computer.

Note: If using Windows Vista, click the Start button, then click Computer.

2. Access the AOL folder.

If using Windows 2000 or Windows XP, double-click the Local Disk (C:), then navigate to Windows\All Users\Application Data\AOL folder.
If using Windows Vista, double-click the Local Disk (C:), then navigate to the Windows\ProgramData|AOL folder. Windows Vista users can alternatively search for C_AOL90 to find it.

3. Right-click the C_AOL90 folder, then click Copy.
Note: If there are multiple copies of the C_AOL90 folder, copy the folder with the later letter next to it. e.g.: If you have C_AOL90a and C_AOL90b, then C_AOL90b is folder that would need to be copied.

4. Paste the folder into the correct location.
If using Windows 2000 or Windows XP, navigate to the C:\Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\AOL folder. Right-click the AOL folder, then click Paste.
If using Windows Vista, navigate to the C:\ProgramData\AOL folder. Right-click the AOL folder, then click Paste.
Notes:

If you do not find the Application Data folder, it may be hidden. To see all hidden folders on Windows XP or 2000, click the Tools menu, click Folder Options, then click the View tab. Under Hidden files and folders, choose the Show hidden files and folders option by clicking it, then click the OK button.
If you do not find the ProgramData folder, it may be hidden. To see all hidden folders, click the Organize menu, click Folder and Search Options, then click the View tab. Under Hidden files and folders, choose the Show hidden files and folders option by clicking it, then click the OK button.

5. Launch the AOL® software again.

Dvds wont play on pc

You can install another DVD player software.
there are plenty of free players on the internet that you can download, or you can buy one at your local software dealer. Once you install this, the newer video codecs should be installed

The hard disk is dead. To recover some of your files from it just boot from a Linux Live-CD like   http:pclinuxos.com/  and copy whatever you can recover to a USB memory stick.

Dvd burner not detected

Sorry, but that model is not a DVD writer. It can only write and rewrite CD's. It can only read DVD's.

Note under DVD>Write DVD it says N/A. (Not applicable.)

How do I remove and replace a CPU cooling fan on my Dell Dimension 2400

Make sure u can open the casing well to expose the interior parts without causing any damage. Then by close look at the processor area , that is where the heat sink is located. Normally the dell dimension 2400 has a green channel shaped structure that acts as a passage for the air that enters in and out for cooling the heat sink. It has a locking parts that slides into the casing back by slight pressing to the back of the casing just behind the processor area, be so observant to notice the locking parts. then the fan is just fixed behind that green " channel like" and its fixed on the rear side of the casing, 25275582-o0cuhlgwrl13okm3u3q5444d-5-0.jpg

Motherboard

sometimes dell has a program that can check your hardware for errors. check all the disks they sent you. It won't be on the name of the disk but it should be on one of them. good luck.

My start up wont start

have you tried booting in safe mode?if not try it first.
if you have successfully loged in safe mode. Try using the system restore to restore the system.
if you still have blue screens. do the following.

first try removing the video card and the memory card.
Clean the gold bars using a white eraser.
after cleaning put them back and make sure they are properly inserted in their slots.
Turn on the computer, if the problem still occurs try removing your cd rom drive.
Turn on the computer if the problem still occurs that means your operating system is corrupted or you have a broken harddisk.
Try reinstalling a new operating system. If you have so many important datas in your hard drive I suggest you use Windows 7 cause you can install without reformatting your hard drive.

Here is a video tutorial on how to install windows 7 without restarting.


If a problem occurs during installation it means you have a broken hard drive you have to replace it.

After loading windows 2000 progress bar computer restarts

Hit F8, enter en safe mode, and clean the computer and unistall the last program installed (if any) Be sure also that your computer is not infected by virus or spyware.
If after that the problem continues, you need to use your windows cd and use the opcion (R) recovery console.

Ack graphics card wont fit in any input slots

the adapter u are using is pci express and the dell dimension 9100 are not compatible.. try returning it for either a pci (usually the white slot) or AGP which in most cases is brown.. the AGP will be your best performance.. if return is not an option.. then it seems that a new pc is in your best interest.

ERROR 1002

This error can occur during a system recovery, and choosing the backup option to an external hard drive. The recovery might stop responding, and an Error 1002 message displays.To resolve the error, follow these steps:
  1. After the error message displays, turn off the computer.
  2. Disconnect the external hard disk drive.The backup is still useable.
  3. To continue the system recovery, restart the computer.
  4. Press F11 repeatedly at startup.
  5. Select Advanced Options , and then select System Recovery .
  6. When given the choice, choose to continue without a backup.
  7. After system recovery is complete, restore files from the external hard disk drive.

Frozen mouse cursor at sign in menu. will not allow me to sign in

try this: shut of the computer and unplug it and then take the side off and take out the battery on the mother board. push the power buttion and let go and then plug it in and start it up. that will reset the mother board to factory settings. one you have setup the date and time and everything soudl work again and if it does put the battery back in and put the back on. then if that does not work then you will have to replace the hard drive for the hard drive is bad where the drivers are for the mouse

VuPoint scanner driver loads an MCAP camera device, not a scanner. I can't access the scanner and can't find digitally signed driver elsewhere for it.

jsut install the driver anyway. for just about all the xp programs that was not dell or microsoft will say that
