If you need software to play movies (you are missing codecs)
Download VLC player, it is free, open source, and will play just about every media file

If you just need a DVD Player, I recommend VLC. It's free. You can get it from...

To set VLC as your Default Program for showing videos and movies, follow these instructions...

The Dell Inspiron 1750 came with a DVD+/-RW drive. Did you purchase a replacement blu-ray optical drive (or purchase from dell with the upgrade to blu-ray)? If you do not have a blu-ray drive, a bluray movie will not play.

Cyberlink has some support information and manuals here: http://www.cyberlink.com/prog/support/cs/index.do . Search for PowerDVD and DX8 for Dell in the two drop down menus.

In addition, Cyberlink PowerDVD 8 only supports Blu-ray in their Ultra Edition (Blu-ray Disc) only. You will need to purchase either a newer version of the product that includes blu-ray support (or if sold separately the plug-ins that make the Ultra version of the product). See http://www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdvd/compare-retail_en_US.html for the different versions of Cyberlink PowerDVD 10 (and version 9). Scroll down to the section labeled HD Video Support.

I hope this helps.

To play x264 (.mkv) files I would recommend downloading and installing VLC player.

so you can convert the MKV files to AVI or other video format.
you can use a video converter to deal with that.
I recomemd the one I used for long for you.It is a powerful one with video converting.
I think you can take a try for it.

OK, at the link below you will be able to download a great free codec. Media player Classic.

It plays pretty much any format.

yeah you should install the video codec for playing the divX videos..
either download and install KLM CODEC pack

or you can use VLC player which plays literally all the formats of multimedia..

OK, try this then
Put in a dvd again, when asked if you want it to open with Power DVD, press yes
When power dvd open, DONT press play, in the meny you will find the add button, press that one, and point it to the dvd, that will hoppfully mount the image to the power dvd since you told the program where the file is.

You know that power dvd dosent lay all formats right? so if it is a burned dvd you trying to play make sure that it is a format supported with power dvd

Let me know how it goes

Nic

You should try to burn the .avi files through nero burner.
Nero 7 or 8 will do, but you'll be able to burn only 2-3 .avi files through nero.

CyberLink Power... | Answered on Jul 09, 2019

Did you try reinstalling the power DVD software?
