My processor has power but will not operate,it needs resetting can you help please?
If it doesn't have a resettable external fuse button then it will need more than a reset. Check and make sure that the bowl & lid (and pusher sometimes) are activating the safety mechanisms that prevent the motor starting if not assembled correctly. If that's all fine then you will need to open it up by removing either the base or the top cover and get your multi meter out and follow the circuit.

Put in nuts and turned to mush
It is extremely difficult to chop walnuts in a food processor, because they turn to powder within a few seconds. I have chopped them using both a Cuisinart food processor and a Moulinex La Machine. The difficulty arises because even after you have released the on or chop button, the blade continues to spin for a second or two. The Cuisinart DLC-8S is not particularly well-suited for chopping nuts, because the blade is not reversible - there are many Cuisinarts that do have reversible blades - a particularly good one is the Cuisinart DLC-2A, which has both a reversible blade and a Chop function (retails for about $29.99 to 39.99 nowadays).
The only way to have any success whatsoever with the DLC-8S is to press the pulse button and release immediately - only use a small amount of walntus - and then dump the bowl and add a few more at a time.
Is it possible to repair the "on" button; it no longer stays down without being held.
Most likely a replacement switch is required. MFG may provide the proper switch with instructions on how to replace. If not
there are several online appliance parts stores. Most likely have the part and instructions and may help if you run into problems.
Depending on the age of the machine, I would think the MFG customer service would be interested in how their devices are holding up and will provide the switch, or suggest a source.
