I stopped into a Radio shop and ask them for a power cord for my connex 4600 and he asked me what kind of truck I’m putting this radio in I told him a freightliner he said the connex 4600 Is the wrong radio for this this truck he said discharge don’t have a good ground I never heard that before

many trucks have a ground wire in the harness as the cabins are fibre glass or not grounded around the cabin mounts If the radio grounds out through the frame , then there would be no ground for the radio or the aerial wire to fit this particular may require such a wire in the harness for the radio which it probably doesn't have As you have been alerted to a problem, it would be advisable to talk with professional radio fitters who work on trucks to get the correct advice before starting on the job it could save a lot of frustration

Converting connex 4400 turbo to a cb

If you disable any part of the radio that does not pertain to CB then you could actually do damage to the radio. the best thing to do is leave it on the CB band and don't touch it.

If you ground the audio wire, you will have no noise or mic function at all. The mic hot wire and the shield should be enough to avoid hum.

I want to peak and tune my connex 3400hp

people think that if they peak and tune a radio it will work better. First, if its brand new from the factory you shouldn't have to,all you should have to do is lower the dead key raise the modulation and you are good to go . The proper way to do this is with a spectrom analyzer . Do you have one? Cheap on ebay ,may 4000-5000 dollars but if you get one and set that radio perfect you should hear anyone complain that you are interfering with their radio.

Do i have to connect my Connex directly to the battery ??

Hello As a general rule of thumb all radios should be connected directly to the vehicle 12 battery. This connection cuts down on vehicle induced noise and allows the radio to have access to the full current it needs to operate at full efficiency. Make sure there are matched fuses in the positive and negative leads going to the radio. Hope this answers your question.

I have a General Lee I am Working on. It has ears But will not Dead Key. Replaced Both Finals, Driver, Audio IC . I am Stumped :-(

On the RF Hi Lo switch do you have power? Is the switch ok? That switch regulates the TX power and if it is open, you have none.

Why doesn't it transmit or receive?

Did you replace any components such as the audio chip, the audio cap.near the modulation transformer ? Could be the final or even the driver .Did you follow a service manual as to how to re-tune it ? Eliminate the positives to find the negatives.

Connex 3400 hp makes static noise when I hit bumps in road.

don't hit any more bumps. The problem could be in several areas. I'm going to say that you may have a loose capacitor inside If I had the radio here I could fix it but because the problem may be so spread it could be a lot of things Are you a truck driver? If you are take it to a CB shop at one of the many truck stops and see if they can fix it for you .

Just bought a connex coyote hunter.the antenna i have is for cb i know that for 10 meter radios you have to have a antenna thats tuned.on cb band shouldn't i be able to hear On cb band? With cb ant?

To recieve signals on 10 or 11 metres with the same antenna is usually without problem, it's when you try transmitting that the correct antenna length is vital. If it's not correct, you can , at the least, get very little power being radiated, and at worst, the power going back into the transmitter and cooking it. If you have to ask these questions, you should not be on the 10 m amateur band anyway.
