Compaq evo d 500, does not display the red colour

First step is to plug in a different monitor, if you have the same results then it would be a video card issue. If not then you have a bad VGA cable.

I am unable to install

There are 3 possible Ethernet adapters for your model.3COM - Click For DownloadBroadcom - Click For DownloadIntel - Click For DownloadAssuming you are using the card that came with the model and not a third party expansion card one of these three drivers should be the driver you require. Most commonly Broadcom is used by HP/Compaq systems so that is probably the best one to start with, Intel second, 3Com last.

** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF7946528, 0xC0000034,

1 or more of your memory modules may be failing. If you only have 1 module then remove it and replace it (try to find someone with a spare to test this before spending money to replace it).If you have two modules remove all but the Slot 0 module and try to boot. If you still error remove the slot 0 module and put in a different chip to slot 0. Continue this for all sticks of memory. Replace all chips that erred. It is best to try both of these methods with known working memory before spending any money. This system uses PC133 SDRAM in configurations of 128MB, 256MB, and 512MB DIMMs.

I do not have a security key to unlock the case.

Those two screws should have (on a Tower Model) made it so the lock will be unable to hold the case in place. If you know the BIOS Password you may be able to disable the lock from within the BIOS.I do not have one of these computers to perform trial and error on at this time, but If I see one I'll check back and reply to my solution.Best of luck!
