Sounds like this is something with info you need to keep..Keeping/securing/BACKING UP your data is your priority!! Personally, I would find a QUALITY (ASK a lot of questions.. can they guarantee their work,,- and NOT LOSE your data..!!) .. skip the geek squad - .. computer repair shop..(or some 10 year old).. I would first see if they could copy this drive to another drive (solid state) so you will not lose your data... we are at 4.0 with USB now... 2.0 is becoming the "floppy" of today..I have 3.0 drives and feel left out.. again.. securing/copying/backing up your data is paramount.. Cavalry hard drive gets error message
click start control panel administrative tools computer management then select event viewer depending on what operating sytem you have this may vary
extend the events there you will ((see errors in red)) you will no what exactly what the error was and at what time it occured
you might be able work your way through the problem
if it's a program file you might uninstall the program restart your computer then reinstall some of these files/software

I bought 1 TB hard disk a year ago. All of sudden
First make sure usb cable connected to harddrive is working fine. try it in different usb ports. Press windows key +R key so you can see run then type in run "devmgmt.msc" then press ok so you can see device manager uninstall all usb drivers then it automatic install usb drivers. then check. Also you need to change registry for that type in run "regedit" then press ok then you can see registry editor then locate below key. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11 CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} And remove upper filter and lower filter.Then restart computer then check. Also locate the below key and make sure it's value is 3 not 4. HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\services\usbstor make sure start value is 3 not 4. Let me know if you need further assistance. I recently purchased a new Cavalry external hard
1. This could be due to several things.
a. The power supply for the external drive is not working properly
b. A broken power supply connector.
c. The USB drive was disconnected improperly > that is not disconnected safely in Windows
d. The external drive controller in the USB case is defective. A new case is needed.
The drive will not spin
you have a dirty hard drive the clicking sound is the reader arm skipping across the hard drive platters give your hard drive a firm tap to side which will free up the reader arm once you freeze it it will only last a short amount of time

A typical sound from a disk-drive that has malfunctioned.
If it still has a valid WARRANTY, exercise the warranty to get it repaired/replaced.
If the warranty has expired, then open the case, remove the disk-drive, buy a new "compatible" disk-drive, connect it, and thus "revive" your external storage device.
