Ink Carts do act finicky at times. Especially Canon carts.
In many cases, the ink carts have a small fuse built into the back of the cartridge that opens up if the cart has been removed for any reason. Replacement Carts come with the fused portion reset, thus when you insert it into the printer, it works great. If the cart is FULL, it still may not be observed as full or new by the Printer itself. Best way is to use a new cart, not necessarily a Canon Brand. Use an inexpensive company like

Hi, maybe the cartridge is defective even if the ink level is not low, try to perform a deep clean in printer properties, if problem persist you have to replace the cartridge
Hello, Jordanreinha -
You will need to install a color cartridge, too.
Oddly enough, with color printers, both the black and color ink/s are used to print black. Go figure?
Best wishes.
Canon makes it ******* owners by using a small electronic chip on each cartridge that opens when it is taken out of the printer. Sometimes removing a cartridge will not open and when replaced in the print head, it works, but if the cartridge sensor fails to communicate with the printer, you would need a resetting device to bring the cartridge back to normal. Rather than become upset with the issue, it would be best to get a new cartridge from any reseller on the internet (not Canon) and go from there.
Go to this website and download the User Manual, quickstart manual. deivers and any firmware upgrades and software:

Please note ths is the European support. If in the US etc then it will allow you to link to your own platform.
The cartridge is only a tank that holds ink. The printhead is the device that you put it into and probably has a blockage in the magenta head. Open the machine so the carriage moves to the center. remove all the cartridges.
TCT How to remove and clean Canon Printhead see the link below. The MX700 may have the locking mechanism at the front of the carriage, so you should move it slightly right and then pull the colour bar forward to release the printhead. carefully remove the printhead. Sit it in a shallow dish/tray of hot water for a few minutes and dry with a paper towel. Put it back in the printer reset the locking bar and cartridges. Try a nozzle check through the tools menu. Yoyu may need to repeat the process if the magenta printhead is badly blocked
Hi. I am almost sure that there is obstruction. Try this. Unplug the printer, turn it upside-down and shake it up and down . Maybe the foreign object comes out . If doesn't. Get technical support
Sometimes there are other problems by some model printers, buy new cartridges if its needed there is an reset by software and hardware. chipproblem on the cartridge by oxyd, then sometimes it could help to clean the brass contacts on the cartridge . to be sure thats not the fault.
Either there is a small fragment of paper still hidden in the carriage somewhere, or the sensor is defective. If you can't seem to locate the problem, it would be best to contact Canon directly and ask technical service for assistance.
Is the Pixma connected to a wireless router (or connected by USB or ethernet cable)? It could be that the router connection failed. Try restarting the router, or repeat wireless connection on the Pixma.
