Camera takes pictures continuously

it is normal on the camera. just avoid pressing the snap button at the upper part near the zoom control.

Computer doesn recognize camera

Have you downloaded the drivers for that camera: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/camcorders/minidv_camcorders/zr800#DriversAndSoftwareAlso if it still doesn't work try taking the memorycard out of the camera and reading it using a memory card reader.

Cannot get my camcorder to turn on. I've tried two

Possibly the power management unit needs to be reset - try this: disconnect all power and all batteries from the camcorder, then press AND HOLD the power button down for 30 seconds. Release the power button, then reconnect the camera directly to an AC adapter and see if it turns on.
