Condenser motor hums but will not turn on

The hum you hear is the compressor running. The fan motor capacitor is most likely problem. The top of the capacitor should be flat. Bad ones will likely be puffed up. Other cause, bad motor.

Ac icing up

Two things cause a unit to ice up restricted air flow over the evaporator coil (it's the one that ices up) Can be a dirty filter or the coil may be dirty or the return air vent may be blocked. Other cause is low freon.

Just replaced the capacitor, and reconnected. Turned power on and heard a buzzing sound from the condensor, then the fan turned on. the unit only runs for a few minutes then shuts off

The buzz is the compressor failing to start. The blue or purple wire from the compressor goes to herm on the capacitor. If it's wired right and does not stare the compressor is bad.

My blower fan doesn't come on.

2006 and later models have a X 13 blower motor. several million have failed. There is a 5 year parts warranty but you must pay for service to replace it. After the warranty expires a new one costs around $550.00 plus installation cost. Look on the end of the motor if it's an X13 there is no capacitor. If it's not an X13 the capacitor is the most likely problem.

We lost power and now my bryant ac unit will not come back on

100 to 1 odds the capacitor got zapped when the power went off.Top of the capacitor where the wires connect should be flat. A lightening strike will cause it to be puffed up.

We have a Bryant 556a

The small wires that go from your furnace to the outside unit could be freyed or bare and touching something or maybe even together. Some time dogs will chew these wires outside or under a house if you have a crawl space. You may need to inspect the wires . If looks bad, you can go to a local hardware store and buy new wiring.

I have seen the contactor also blow this fuse. Especially if the contacted are pitted or at time the 24volt coil will be shorted.

These are the two main problems that could be occurring. Good luck. Mark

My Bryant air handler with V coil is dripping condensation outside of drain pan and onto my return plenum. I have to keep a bowl to collect the condensation. Pan not clogged and refrigerant ok. Con

Either the coil pan is cracked, or the coils are not set properly. if coil pan is cracked, you have two options, Replace the coil, or get a condensate pump. The condesate pump is a temporary fix because some water would stay in the secondary pan and eventually rust it out, causing damage to whatever is below it, which is usually your ceiling.
