HI there do check all circuit boards in back cover for any blown fuses or other electronic components , If all good then you will have to remove LCD screen to test LED lights . switch TV on from standby mode and shine a LED torch onto screen with room completely dark if ICONS do display ,Then i wood recommend for you start off checking your power supply circuit board or driver board . A easy way of checking if LED lights are working again in a dark room with TV switched on look through back cover vent holes for any light shinning through small openings this would determine if some or all back LED lights are blown.

Insert a thin, flat-head screwdriver beneath the VHS tape inside of the deck. Very Gently pry upward on the tape until it comes free from the tape deck's heads. Grasp the tape with a pair of needle-nosed pliers. Pull the cassette out of the deck.

Check the owner's manual to see what region your dvd player is for. What ever that region is is the only region it will play.

Example: If you have a region 1 dvd player and a region 4 dvd, it will not play on that player. The regions must match. The dvd usually has the region it is for listed on the back of the dvd case near the bottom.

Also, Any dvd's that are Region 0 or are labelled "Region Free" will play on any player.

DVDs are ecoded with region codes to indicate what area of the world they are made for. These codes may be 1,2,3, etc depending on which region they are made for.
DVD player read these codes and if the disc region code does not match the region the device is made for, the player will not play the disc.
Region 1 is for USA so most DVDp players made for use in USA require region 1 discs.
Some DVD players called multi region DVD players can be set to play different region DVDs but they are typically more expr=ensive then one region players and the code must be changed each time a different region disc is played.

If the screen is still dark after the picture quality mode has been changed, change the setting Backlight, Picture, Brightness and adjust the brightness to your taste. ... Depending on such settings, the picture brightness level can be higher or lower
