In most cases, to avoid freezing, keep battery charged and turn off wireless when it's not being used. To properly reset, hold power switch to the right for 15 seconds.

Resetting the device is not a bad thing, most electronic devices need it to be done. It can be annoying, but it's not fatal.

I would keep track of how many times you need to reset the device. Once the amount get over a few times per day, honestly, I would call Kindle Support. They've got the necessary software to look further into your Kindle.

I have changed the account on the fire hd many times when My Grandma let my mom borrow it. Just go to your Kindle and swipe down the tool bar. Then click "More" and then "My account" and then "De register". You should be able to then register a new user.

Hi! I'm not sure if you're still in need of a solution but I'm currently going through the same issue. My Kindle 2 has not connected to Whispernet for over a week. I've been back and forth with Customer Service (1-866-321-8851 or 1-206-266-0927 if you're calling from outside the U.S) and after an exhaustive search for any possible answer, they told me it was a network connectivity issue and forwarded a service note to AT&T/Sprint, and promised to notify me as soon as possible. I'm still waiting to hear from them. Yesterday my Kindle connected to Whispernet for all of three minutes (just long enough to download a book I bought over a week ago) and now nothing. I've even tried switching wireless networks in range (go to settings, hit menu, type 311 - select different wireless networks) but to no avail. So basically, the best thing you can do after you have tried a soft/hard reset, a fully charged battery and toggling wireless off and on is to call tech support. Do you happen to be in Orange County, New York? If you are, maybe it's a malfunctioning cell tower. Hope this helps!

To buy content and deliver it to your device, you will need to connect to a wireless network and register your Fire tablet to an Amazon account.
If you are setting up a new Fire tablet for the first time, you'll be taken through setup instructions and will have the chance to register your device. Follow the instructions on your screen.
To register your Fire tablet outside of the initial setup screens:
  1. From Home, swipe down from the top of the screen and then tap Settings.
  2. Tap My Account.
  3. Tap Register.
    • If you already have an Amazon account: Enter your Amazon account information, and then tap Continue.
    • If you do not have an Amazon account: Tap Start Here, and then follow the instructions to set up a new account.

Note: If you've forgotten your Amazon account password, you can reset it by requesting that a personalized "password reset" link be sent to your e-mail address. To learn more, go to Reset Your Account Password .
If you need to deregister your device from an Amazon account, follow the steps above, and then tap Deregister. After you deregister your device from an Amazon account, you won't be able to access items stored in the Cloud for that account.
After deregistering, you can register your Fire tablet to another Amazon account. Related Help Topics

Not all apps in the google play store are for free! And not all apps are for a PC or a laptop many are for smartphones and androids, iPhones and iPads, as well as some apps require the very latest upgrades in Windows as well as Graphics cards that run in the higher end. So before you download an app check to see what the system requirements are first to make sure it is compatible with your system ( windows 7, 8,or10 or even XP ) min memory required, etc

This is an Android tablet and you can try to reset it but this will erase all your personal data.
You can do this from the Android System Recovery menu.
To go in the Android system recovery menu, press and hold the Power On button and some other key (Volume Up, Volume Down, Home ). The combination is different for the different models.
When you are in the Android system recovery menu, use The Volume Up/Down keys for navigation and the Power button for confirmation.
Choose one by one:
- wipe data / factory reset
- Yes -- delete all user data
- reboot system now

Hi there,

It should be running Android 2.0 (eclair) on it.

You can confirm this by going into your menu - then settings - about phone (it might be something different since it isn't a phone, but it should say "about" or something like that). In this screen it should tell you the android version you are running. I hope this helps.

You just need to sign into it. If you don't remember your password, you can get in from any other device you are signed into. Here I'll show you how. Skip ahead to the last 20 seconds or so of this video I made about how to retrieve your facebook password from cache. I also show how to retrieve any password you have stored in a google account or local device account (if you havent signed in but still store passwords) So anyways this is super easy, you'll see what I mean, it takes only a few seconds to show. Takes longer to explain :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fvl0PEbJUAM authenticate w your computer password to get your google password is one method provided here.

Have you tried another cable? Often the cable goes bad. I'd try powering it off and leaving it off well NOT on the charger for 1 minute. Then plug it in and power it on to see if its charging... Really though, before getting into more troubleshooting, try another cable :)

on the back of the unit there is a small hole that says "reset"....gently push a straight pin or anything that will fit in the hole. that resets the tablet.
