Is there a 'reset' pin hole in the back by any chance? If so, gently insert the end of an opened paper clip into the hole and push in until you feel a button being pushed. Hold it there for about 10 seconds and then release. Your tablet should reset and start again.

Factory Reset the Device
  1. Plug in and power on the ATA device.
  2. Locate the indented RESET button between the power and ethernet port.
  3. Use a paper clip or toothpick to press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds. Do not release the button until all 4 lights on the top of the ATA flash for 1-2 seconds.

If you are sure that your headphones are not the problem, then there must be a software/hardware issue with the tablet itself. ... By restoring your device, you make sure there is no software issue with your device. If the sound still does not work, try replacing your audio jack.
I looked everywhere for an answer and tried it ALL, from cleaning the jack port, reboot, restore to fabric options, and many more, but none of them worked. However, as I was trying not to go crazy trying so many weird things on my new not properly working tablet, I accidentally found the solution!!! why it works I don't know, but it does so here it goes:
1. Turn device off
2. Make sure your headphones are plugged ALL the way in (you should hear a click sound)
3. Press the on/off button and the volume up button at the SAME TIME
4. Once the screen is on let the on/off button go
5. DO NOT let the volume up button go
6. Wait until the tablet has finished loading all settings up.
7. Let volume up button go.
Problem should be fixed now. Enjoy

Suggest to be sure your Kindle is charged up. There are several generations of these devices. Search for reboot procedure online for example ... "reboot kindle 3rd generation".

Go to Battery options on your Device settings.

Check the Battery charging mode. The device can only charge through the power adapter and may have shifted into the USB charging. If it shows USB charging, do the following.

Remove the USB connector from the Tab device and AC adapter from wall power outlet (Must need to remove both the ends).

Reconnect the USB cable and AC adapter to wall unit. Now check the charging mode, it shows charging with AC. Now the device can charge as normal condition.

If however it shows USB charging, do this step again by disconnecting the ports and reconnecting until you see the AC charging mode for Battery.

If the mode was correct, I'd test the charger unit for 5+ volts. It's possible it died.

Each version of android has a fairly limited life.

Each hardware manufacturer has to fiddle with the android software to make it fit their devices, consequently updates don't come from google but have to come from the device manufacturer.
If it is possible to update the android operating system the device menu will list the option though many low cost generic devices aren't updatable (unless you are a computer scientist).

If updates are available it is usually for a limited time, often until a new version of android is released. Some apps also have to be updated but they do reach a point where they no longer function with earlier versions of android...

I will attempt to tackle your problem, however, I am uncertain if you need to bypass the bios password or the login password to windows operating system. Some hard drives also have passwords but from your question it seems to be one of the former 2. If it is a bios password or a windows login you can google Hiren's boot CD 15.2 restored v 1.1 DVD Proteus.ISO and follow the directions for creating a Bootable USB or burn it to DVD with any .ISO image burner like roxio or download image burn...it's free. At start up you may have to press esc or f-11 or f-12 to get the boot menu, choose the device that the boot CD is on by using the arrows on the keyboard, highlight the device and press enter, you will get the menu from the CD, depending on your issue , bios password you must go into dos mode, if login to windows you can enter either dos or mini windows xp or mini windows 7 and follow the instructions to remove or reset the passwords.
Yes......give me your service tag number and I will generate the password for you, I have the factory service tag to password generator.....you have a bios password lock. If you also run into a windows password the horns CD will help you.
