there should be a little dust cap on the left side of the reel. unscrew that, pop the crank out, and switch the sides, ending with putting the dust cap back on the right side.

Request an assembly drawing from Quantum and follow it in reverse to remove the sideplate.

I have a Zebco 33 reel. No one on this site can tell me how to get the front cover off. The only way i know to get it off, is by putting it in my 20 ton press and crushing it. Who ever designed this reel should be shot. If the reel jams on the boat, just throw it in the water. It is not user friendly.
