I’m in Dalby qld I own my house there’s a very big dog chained up on fence line can I put some shade cloth up on fence it will be professionally done or do I need council approval

you do not need council approval if you do it properly and the cost is minimal for example you can erect a garden (2m X2m X1.8m)shed with out getting approval or even erect a shade cloth lean to if you are doing it for a dog on some Else's property you will need permission from the joint boundary holder ( other farmer) for any additions to the fence line as it is common property but generally if you bear the cost yourself, there would be no problem from an understanding person If however there is not a way of coming to an understanding about the welfare for the animal you could always call in the RSPCA as chained animals are entitled to protection from the elements

Good day We have dogs being poisoned with rat poison I read you can use activated charcoal and hydrogen peroxide 3%. How much do we use Thank you Evelin

Go to a vet NOW. They can die from internal bleeding. A blood toxicology test must be done to determine the level of poisoning and may require your dogs be put on a vitamin K treatment for anything up to 6 weeks or even a blood transfusion.

How can I treat mucus in dog stool

Dog stool normally contains some mucus, but excessive amount of mucus in the stool may indicate a medical condition and will need medical attention. If your dog has mucus in the stool, this is what you can expect to happen next: Medication: A small amount of mucus in the stool of a dog who is otherwise feeling fine (eating well, happy, active, no diarrhea, etc.) does not require treatment with medications, but a probiotic supplement may help. More severe cases will require medical therapy that varies with the underlying cause. Diet: Sometimes switching to a highly digestible diet or adding additional fiber to the diet will help dogs with mucus in the stool. Boiled white meat chicken (no skin or bones), white rice, and a teaspoon to a tablespoon (depending on the size of the dog) of canned pumpkin is a good, homemade option that can be safely fed for a few days. When abnormal amounts of mucus appear in a dog's stool over an extended period of time, your veterinarian will need to look for an underlying cause. He or she will collect a complete health history, perform a physical exam, and then may want to run some combination of the following tests:
  • ***** examinations
  • Blood chemistry panel
  • Complete blood cell count
  • A urinalysis
  • Abdominal x-rays
  • Endoscopy
  • Biopsy of the intestinal tract

Hello, Emmie - I am answering from the USA. These are all I could find being sold in South Africa: Bake A Bone https://www.pricecheck.co.za/offers/107015027/E.+Mishan+%26+Sons+-+Pet+Products+Bake-a-bone+The+Original+Dog+Treat+Maker Sunbeam Gourmet Dog Treat Maker https://www.pricecheck.co.za/offers/104156668/Sunbeam+Gourmet+Dog+Treat+Maker+Non-stick+Electric+Bone-shape+Recipe+Pet+Biscuit However, upon looking further, neither of those products are available / in stock. This dog won't stop 'hacking' for lack of a better word. Took him to vet , not kennel cough. A few of us think it's mental but it's driving me mental!!!!!! He doesn't seem to do it outside tho.

Hello, Teresa - So, your veterinarian does not think your dog's coughing is not kennel cough, but did not state what he / she thought was causing the coughing. Read the information here: https://www.akc.org/expert-advice/health/common-conditions/dog-coughing/ After examining your dog, I am surprised the veterinarian did not state what he / she may think is causing your dog's coughing. Did you tell your veterinarian that your dog only seems coughs when indoors . . . in your home? If you did not tell your veterinarian about the coughing just indoors (in your home), make a call and report that information to him / her. The coughing COULD be due to indoor allergies. Without a veterinarian making a full physical examination of your dog, it is a challenge to provide a diagnosis. Best wishes.
