at the temp control switch or at the wall socket if the control switch makes no difference and the wall socket has power , junk the iron

Hello, Try this cleaning procedure: Empty the iron's reservoir. Fill the reservoir halfway with white vinegar. Set iron to steam setting. Steam on a cotton rag allowing the vinegar to clean the holes in the soleplate. If this cannot be performed, or does not work, at Black & Decker's normal price point, it is simply easier to dispose and purchase new. Best regards,

If less than year old it is under warranty. Otherwise the heater element may be open. If you take to small appliance store for repair it might cost more than a replacement.

This problem developed with our iron within the last week. Playing around with it today, I discovered that the dial WOULD respond to "persuasion". I forced it, and it cooperated. Find somebody with a stronger grip and try it.

As a suggestion, I would put some white vinegar 1 part to 5 parts water through the iron to clean away the mineral deposits. Let it soak cold for an hour or so. If it has just stopped steaming action  from the steamer button, heat the iron up and put plenty of action through the button also. It will have mineral deposits there also. As for any instructions on service, there will be none in print. I suggest running around the edges of the plastic cover parts with a guitar pic(if you have one) or something of a flexible springy nature. The clips at the edges can generally be released in the manner. Good luck
