Red light is on but the motor will no run

I would get it rebuilt, most or all electric motor places will do it

SOUNDS LIKE IT COULD BE THE MOTOR the clicking sound you hear is the relay to power the motor pulling in so since you hear it pull in and click the control circuits are OK. either the contacts in the relay are bad and not sending power to the motor or the motor is bad. have you measured to see if you have power to the motor when you hear the click? If you have power to the motor but it doesn't run it has a bad motor.If it runs maybe a bad belt. Good luck, Finding parts for them has become dificult

If you have any leaks along the vac sys it will kick off. Check all lines and gaskets seals anyplace it can lose vacuum

If its an an ac unit (i.e plugged into the 110Vac wall outlet) and the switch is the on/off switch, it doesn't matter which one goes on which terminal.
