The battery ran down too far. Lithium battery controllers typically lock out if the battery is discharged below 2.6 Volts per cell because trying to recharge at standard current could cause a fire. Even if you can bring the battery back above the lockout voltage using a very low charge current, it may be damaged and will need more frequent recharging. In other words, your best bet is to replace the battery.

WIND AT THE SAME TIME EVERY DAY. This is extremely important. In order to ensure that your watch keeps good time it must be wound at the same time every day. Most people like to do this at night before bed.
WIND ALL THE WAY. The watch must be wound all the way, or it will slowly lose the proper time and require constant resetting. Also, if not wound all the way, the watch may stop keeping time earlier than expected.

Hi, please view the back of the watch and look for screw or plastic latch that you can use to open the back and access your watches battery. You can search amazon or bestbuy for a replacement battery and then order it. But if you find it hard to open the back of the watch, you can visit a local watch store to help you with that and they might have a replacement battery for you as well. Thank you.

i just found the same model of watch in the closet that some one gave me as a gift 20+ years ago. It's in original box with the instruction. The battery is dead (of course). The instruction is one long narrow sheet of paper with small print on both side. Very complicate setup.
