Battery not detected on a
The Toshiba 305's were first released in 2008/2009. Depending on the age of your machine, the battery may very well just be dead. Typically there are warning signs like slower charging, and less battery life after a charge. New batteries for this laptop are available in many places and cost in the $20 to $30 dollar range.

Averatec 3700 notebook is charged but will not
Try to remove the battery and turn the computer on with only the AC adapter connected. If it works then the battery is failing. If it does not there is something wrong with the motherboard or the AC adapter. hopefully it is just the AC adapter. Try to borrow an AC adapter from a friend or anybody else. Make sure that the current and power rating is exactly the same. Or else you might end up with a burned laptop. It the known working AC adapter works, then it is your charger. Buy a new one.

Sounds to me like the battery was faulty. If it has been less than a 90 days or 1 years depending on the manufacture you should be able to get a new battery. Contact the manufacture, explain the problem and they should be able to help you out.
Good Luck and vote for me if this answer helped you out.
Cheers.

My computer keeps dying and
Newer versions of OSX will tell you if your battery needs replacing simply by clicking on the charge indicator on the top toolbar. If you have not updated check out this free application
http://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutbattery/ this will tell you the current condition of your battery and if you need to get a replacement.
How old is your Macbook? If you are still under warranty or have AppleCare, Apple should replace the battery for free if it is not holding a charge.

Hi
i have toshiba p305-s8830
If the original battery can be detected (even if it no longer holds a meaningful charge), and If the "new" battery is a 3rd party manufacturered one - and most of them are - it (the new one) may very well have been dead to begin with. Now please realize that these notebook batteries are not just a bunch of cells connected or wired together - it's a lot more than that, as there's also a circuit board between the battery contacts and the cells, and this circuit board almost always contain some form of propriety stuff that 3rd party battery manufacturers have to "reverse engineer" to be as close to the original specs as possible, and this reverse engineering stuff ain't always perfected or tested fully.
If I were you, I'd return it, get a replacement, and if the replacement is still not detected, I'd go with some other brand /manufacturer. This kind of stuff happens quite often.

Its true if not working the fan of processor not
Yes and no.
If the fan is not working, the unit will still work, but get very hot. If the laptop won't power on, the fan won't work, either.
Can you elaborate on this? Sounds like you got a replacement battery and the system is still not working. Can you remove the battery, but plug in the external power supply, and then power on the laptop? If the laptop comes on then the problem is not the battery. The problem is with the motherboard.
If it won't power on, as described above, you either have a bad power supply or a dead motherboard. Both can be replaced. You will have to do a search on the Internet to find a good replacement motherboard. The power supply is available to Office Depot, Staples, etc. and can be purchased around $80. The price on the motherboard depends on the supplier.
Hope this helps.

I get the message
If you connect a Sony Vaio to a power supply, and the screen says 'Battery Low' on the lower right hand corner, and it does not go away over several hours of charging, then it could be a bad battery that needs to be replaced.
