Baby Lock Sewing Machines - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support

I know this is a super old post, but I cannot find the manual for this BL5180 I just bought. I'd like to know how to service/oil it. Does anyone have a scanned manual, pretty please? :)

it's possible that there is something wrong with the needle bar or the screen, it would be good to have the machine checked.

I would start with looking to see if the needle bar is loose and is not moving as a result. If all of the movement in that area is ok then remove the top of the machine and check if the horizontal gear and top vertical gear are suppose to mesh together may be apart somehow. Check if they're moving at all. These are for sure areas that I would check for before going any further.

Do you mean the BabyLock Protege Serger? Apparently the BabyLock BL402 (Protege) was also sold as the Riccar 739DE. Manuals Lib has the Riccar manual here: . You will need to complete a Captcha if you want to download the manual as a PDF. I hope this helps. You can also find YouTube videos on using several BabyLock sergers. These may help you set up the serger. Cindy Wells

ManualsLib has the manual for the BabyLock Quest Plus (BLQ2-PL) here: . The needle stop position button is the top button above the reverse button. To adjust the needle position for straight stitches, you press the stitch width button on the sewing machine. Pressing the - button will move the needle to the left; pressing the + button moves it to the right. The machine should start with the needle centered. See page 49 of the manual for the pictures of the machine button and the stitches that allow for needle position changes. To avoid damage, you can't move the needle left or right for most zig-zag stitches. The needle will move to the left and right from the center based on the desired stitch width. I hope this helps. If your sewing machine needle isn't centering the needle correctly when you turn on the machine, it may need to be serviced. Cindy Wells

Sewing Machine: Needle won't move A disengaged clutch, broken drive belt or internal drive gear failure can prevent the needle from moving. Engage the hand wheel clutch if you have it disengaged for bobbin winding. If the needle won't move with the clutch engaged, unplug the sewing machine and check the drive belt.
