problem is that any today products are not compatible with a win operating system ( Win XP) which has not been supported by Microsoft for the past 10 years or longer You may have to install win 10 to get it to work propely

You must specifically run the driver and software installation as Administrator. While it may appear the automatic process did this, it really didn't. Right-click on the installation EXE and select "Run as Administrator".

I am not an expert but a google search could prove useful. I expect connecting it will be intuitive and all you will need are the drivers (the software). Connecting your device should produce the message "new hardware found" and it will attempt to install it automatically and when it fails, if it fails, it will give you the option of allowing your computer to search the internet for the drivers. If you still have your old computer and the same operating system is used on your new computer, you will be able to extract the software from it and you could transfer all your files and settings quite simply.
