The plug is probably not connected to the power cable. Could also be a bad cable or the connection to the clipper.

ok you need to take the upper cassing off, remove the hinge assembly and the circuit board now the motor unit should come away from the lower cassing.
remove the clips holding the carbon brushes in place beware there are springs behind these clips, remove the two long black clips holding the front and rear motor frames to the field coil and then pull apart. This will allow access to the armature and then simply unscrew the drive cam.
Totaly dismantle all the parts of your Andis AGC clipper.

There is a part called a blade drive assembly often referred to as a Lever there should be a spare in the case when you bought them. Try changing this part first but it's hard to find a good sharpening company in the uk. If you have any problem please contact

The blade alignment probably just needs adjustment, if you undo the two blade screws a fraction you should be able to move the comb or bottom blade further forward then re-tighten the screws.

Adjust your blade. Remove it from the clipper, and then loosen (don't remove) the two screws that hold the blade and cutting edge together. Use a FLAT surface, like a ceramic sink top or flat piece of tile, and push the cutting edge down and angle the blade with the cutting edge facing the flat surface down to about a 30 to 35 degree angle. Use your thumb to hold in place until you can retighten the screws. Under a light, inspect to see if it is level (it will be noticeable if it isn't) or oil the blade and touch it to a clean dry piece of paper. If it is level, replace the blade on the trimmer, and edge your beard. It should be better than brand new. This also works when it doesnt seem like the blade is cutting sharp anymore. ALWAYS make sure the cutting edge is lower than the blade or you WILL CUT YOURSELF or YOUR CLIENT!

************ UPDATE ***********
The webpage above no longer has them, BUT you can get them from eBay or Craigslist... it's just a matter of getting an alert (notified when someone puts one up for sale). You can get alerts by email or IM (instant message) on your phone. They're still out there!

Andis discontinued 01587 in 2013. They're still out there but hard to find.
FOUND 3 detachable #01587 cords mixed in a parts box being sold on eBay from a small mom n pop shop going out of business. Very expensive, but got all 3 in perfect condition, will keep one and sell the other 2 in order to off-set having to buy the whole box.

Make sure you are putting the blades on with the clippers running otherwise the blade will not locate correctly. Failing that it could b e a broken 'latch' AGC

try moving the power cord where it exists the clipper, if it shows any sign of starting up then its probably a faulty cable.
