The plug is probably not connected to the power cable. Could also be a bad cable or the connection to the clipper.

If the clippers stopped cutting, they are probably clogged with hair on the inside of the clippers. I had two pairs of clippers where this happened. I took them to be serviced at a beauty supply store and they cleaned the hair from the inside of both pairs of clippers for me and they now work just fine.

Cleaning a Laundry Iron
Get some CLR descaler and mix it to the directions. Turn the iron on and set it to steam. Turn the iron off and put the CLR into it, when it has cooled a little, sit it face plate down in an oven proof dish. Leave it over night. The CLR will drip through and sit in the dish cleaning the inside, and the topside of the sole plate. The next day, fill with water and shake upside down to empty any remaining CLR and scale through the fill hole. Keep filling and shaking to empty until the water comes clean.

If you don't want to use CLR, you can use white vinegar undiluted.

For just the sole plate, you can use oven cleaner, or sit in a dish with household ammonia overnight. Put the dish in a garbage bag to reduce the fumes, or put it in your garage or garden shed.

Press the self clean button , hold it there, and gently move the iron to and fro, over the basin or bowel. CAUTION: Keep clear of the escaping water and steam. Water and steam will wash scale and dust through the soleplate, and into the basin or bowl. When the water tank is empty, release the self clean button .
