There are many reasons why a dehumidifier willnot work or collect water.
Here is a tip that I wrote to help people to figure out what is going wrongwith their dehumidifier

The humidity sensor or the humidistat is probably the problem...
Replacing these can correct the problem, but may cost more then the dehumidifier is worth...

on your bucket you need to drill hole threw where the hose connect, or hose need to run down hill.

The switch is the most likely problem,check the switch with a multimeter

This could be one of several things, we are assuming the air is humid. If the fan is not running and the compressor is, replace or repair fan motor. If the compressor is running, the output line from the compressor should be warm, if not you probably have low refrigerant gas, plugged cap tube or a bad compressor. If it is slightly warm check the evaporator portion at the outlet of the cap tube, it should be cold, probably in the 40F range depending on ambient temperature, if not see above.

WHEN I BROUGHT MINE I HAVE A HOSE RUNNING TO A FLOOR DRAIN BUT REMOVE THE HOSE SEE IF THERE IS A PLASTIC COVER INSIDE WHERE THE HOSE HOOKS ON FROM THE FACTORY THE CONDENSATE PAN IS MENT TO HOLD WATER AND THIS PLASTIC PIECE HAS TO BE REMOVED FOR HOSE USE

there should be a trip switch that is not resetting remove the bucket and find the switch. gently lift it up and try again
