i have never seen a car stereo with its own battery - could be something as simple as a bad ground - don't rely on the radio chasis and a screw that attaches it to the dash. make sure the black wire in the radio harness has a good ground

If this cd player has a removal fascia then try..
Carefully inspect the the electrical contacts on the fasica and the cd player. If it has got dirt on them then CAREFULLY CAREFULLY clean with cotton swab dabbed in cleaning Alcohol.
Two of four speakers are not working...one each in
then the ones not working r probably ran together pull out radio and check speaker wire connections,if that doesnt work run the back speaker off the other back speaker , then do same w front , or if that doesnt work maybe speakers r blown out ,

It's most likely a connection for a cd changer unit. you may be able to get an aftermarket cable to run an ipod... cool stuff.
For an antenna adapter... the local stereo stores carry those as well as the wiring harness adapters...
