Time to install another alarm system.Go to the power source just disconnect the battery power source,if the control panel don't acept the codes or respone to the codes anymore.If the alarm keep going off the police come out more than one,they'll give a ticket every other times they have to show up to check around.

My newly installed 5828V also thinks it is in battery mode all the time. The ADT tech found no 5 VDC at the plug coming from the basement. The installer had added wire to make the trip, so there were four splices. One of them had come loose. The ADT repair tech repaired the splice, but the keypad then failed entirely.

I wondered if the original installer had gotten the polarity backwards, but because there was the broken connection, the keypad was saved from destruction. (Operating on battery causing my symptom) When the ADT repairman fixed the splice, the wrong polarity condition may have blown the keypad.

That beeping is controled in installer level programming. If you disable it you will disable all other beeps as well. You will not hear chime entry/or exit. If someone breaks in you will not know till siren goes on, if you have one. GL.

A common problem that I see with customers and these remotes is that they dont hold the buttons down long enough. It should not be like a tap, more like a press and hold for about 2sec. GL

If it is desplaying zone 18 then something is programmed in. It could be a wireless remote (single button panic maybe) GL.

It sounds like your 5V transformer isn't working. It could be the outlet it is plugged into isn't working, or the outlet is on a light switch that is turned off, or there is a problem with the keypad itself. The user manual says:

"AC-Powered Operation: When powered by the
optional AC adapter, the keypad remains active at all
times. If AC power is lost, the keypad reverts to
battery-powered operation until AC power is restored
On AC powered units you can get the status by viewing
the display."

The only way I know of to keep it active is by using the transformer.

The 6148 keypad is a fixed english keypad. It is possible to program your system from a fixed english keypad, but it is very difficult. an alpha keypad shows text descriptions of the programming fields. The model number is 6160. If you are doing your own programming, I would suggest replacing the 6148.

When programming, you're programming your alarm panel, not the keypad. The keypad is just an interface to the panel. If you have a tan box in your basement or a closet, that is your panel. There will be a sticker on the inside of the door of the panel that will tell you the model of the panel at the bottom. It will say Ademco Vista 10, 15, 15P, 20, or 20P.

I'm not familiar with the 4286 but I have used the VM101 from myvirtualmonitoring.com before. It attaches to the panel and uses your internet connection to transmit alarm signals, send you text and email messages when events happen, and let you arm and disarm the system from a iphone or android. It may be a better solution for you.

The resolution depends on the code being shown on the keypad. The first two things that come to mind are 1> The control panel's backup battery is low and not accepting a change and needs replaced, or 2> If the code on the keypad shows 'BF', this is Backup Failure, and it means that your backup communications device, such as a GSM Long Range Radio, is not functioning. If you see this code on the keypad, immediately call your local alarm company for a fix. If your communications are down, police / fire / ems will not be dispatched in the event of an alarm.

This thing can't be reset,must have the original codes to used the system.Cancel the monitored service,when u all set to move in or sale it.Have to put in a new alarm system.

try looking on the HONEYWELL site (yes honeywell tooke over ADEMCO or ask a local alarm installation business they could find one for you

Hi aaccess,

First thing to do is to reset. Merely by taking out the battery for 1hour, then put back again then power up again.The purposed of taking out the battery is to dissipated the stored current in the memory IC that control the unit to hang up, so it will gone. Feel free to ask whatever the results.
