Preamp intermittent channel

Getting the connections right is a problem. One thing I find helps is the THX DVD discs that certain movies have on them. They have a sound set up to get it right. It makes a tone for each channel so you can hear which channel is working. It should help you set up the system right and determine if any channel has a fault on it.

How do I convert my adcom 5400 from 110v to 220v(moved to Australia)

You need to move the jumpers, then change the Mains Fuse to half of what it was in the US. This is because it remains the same wattage as it was, but now has twice the line voltage applied. Enjoy! Thats a nice unit.

a flaslight bulb and batteries and couple of wires can be used to make a continuity tester.and also pls check the small pushbutton(power button)try the remote if theres any

Fuse

Fuses blow when there is an overload. The overload is often caused by a short-circuited semiconductor, such as a transistor. More often than not it is one or more of the main power amp devices located on a large heat-sink.

I have an Adcom GTP870HD that switches inputs randomly all by itself. It can also only be turned off using the remote.

Bad front panel circuit board. Check ebcelectronics.com for more info and repair.

It should run hot to touch at idle, about 120F, because it is MOSFET type amplifier.
