Most SD card will fit in your laptop or tablet with an adaptor sleeve. Most laptops today automatically format new memory cards or prompt you to do so. Look on the side of your laptop or tablet for a hole about an inch by 1/8 of an inch slot. Insert the sleeve and follow the instructions. You can go old school and use the command prompt window and drive letter using the command help from the C:>
type help from the C prompt to see the proper commands

***make sure you have the correct letter or you will clear all the data from whatever letter you use.

What make and model of camera are you using ? When you formatted the card, how did you format it - FAT32 or NTFS ? There is free software you can download called SD Formatter which will format a card in a way that can be read by the camera - you could download that and give it a try.

I had the exact same problem. I took the camera apart, adjusted the height of the gold plated spring connectors inside the SD card slot, and re-flowed all of the SD card slot solder joints. The camera is now working good as new... Good Luck!
