Just go to the Desktop - Desktop Assistant - Control Panel - Display -and adjust the settings it should give you the option to keep or return to the past settings

THE KEYBOARD DOESN WORK
Sounds like the battery in the keyboard is dead. Also make sure you
have the wireless doggle that came with the keyboard and mouse plugged
into the usb port. You might try plugging it into another port. I'm thinking your keyboard is dead because of the battery or a virus has hijacked your keyboard.Try
booting up in Safe Mode to make sure it's not virus related. Turn the
computer off, then turn it on and immediately start hitting the F8 key
repeatedly until you see SAFE MODE. Select the Safe Mode option and let
it boot up. Safe Mode will look different because the icons are bigger
and the screen is darker, this is normal. If your keyboard works in
safe mode then you might have a virus that can't function in safe mode.

Power problem, nothing show that my laptop is charging
If your Acer Aspire 5920 series laptop is not charging when the AC adapter is connected, it is likely that the power cord is not properly connected. Make sure that the power cord is securely connected to the laptop and that the power switch is in the "on" position. If the problem persists, you may need to replace the power cord or contact the manufacturer for assistance.

You can get recovery cd's from their website. You'll need the model number so you get the correct set for your computer.

Did you try " Last known good configuration at start up. If after boot you press the F8 key where you said you went into safe mode, did you try to load the good known config. It sounds like you have a corrupted registry.
ACER Aspire 5720 overheat problem?
Try to keep as much ventilation under the laptop as possible.
You can pick up a can of power spray and blow out the unit yourself or have a pro. do it for you.
Dust and lint play a deadly part in overheating with laptops.
Walmart has Ventilation trays in which the laptop sits and is cooled by forced air from underneath.
Make sure the direction of air flow is the same as your laptop.
You dont want to push air into a output vent.
