Acer Computers & Internet - Popular Questions, Answers, Tips & Manuals

As it is freezing so soon after switch on - it isn't even trying to boot, a disc is unlikely to be much help because there is a chance your hard drive died.

I would remove the drive and use one of the inexpensive usb/hard drive adaptors with another computer to check the drive before doing anything else.
If the drive is ok either the Windows is seriously corrupted or the laptop has a hardware problem.

I never bother trying to repair Windows but back up what I want to save and format the drive and reload Windows and the other software. It is a lengthy job but it is the best way to clean the drive...

What do you mean by message to my printer? Is it mean you could not print anything from your Acer Veriton?

Check Printer Cable
Make sure that printer cable is connected properly if you are using the cable to connect the printer to the PC.

Check the status of LED light on the printer
Also, make sure that proper LED light displays on the printer- it helps a lot in troubleshooting printer problems. Refer your printer manual, to diagnose the problem.

Attach an external mouse. Most Laptops will allow you to connect and external USB mouse.

  • Click/tap the Start button, search for Device Manager, and select it from the list of results. Under Mice and other pointing devices, select your touchpad, open it, select the Driver tab, and select Update Driver. If Windows doesn't find a new driver, look for one on the device manufacturer's website and follow their instructions.

  • If those steps didn't work, try uninstalling your touchpad driver: open Device Manager, right-click (or press and hold) the touchpad driver, and select Uninstall. Restart your device and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.

  • If that didn't work, try using the generic driver that comes with Windows. Here's how: in Device Manager, right-click (or press and hold) your touchpad driver > Update driver software... > Browse my computer for driver software > Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer, select HID compliant mouse, select Next, and follow the instructions to install it.

  • If changing your driver doesn't help, there may be a problem with the touchpad itself. Contact your PC's manufacturer for help.

The issue could be due to over heating, check your motherboard temperature, touch the laptop itself and feel how hot it is. The motherboard tends to auto shutdown / restart by itself and at times it may be either hard disc or ram problem. Very frequently seen in Acer. Cannot be solve If it is motherboard circuitry issue from the end user side as there are 3 components that can cause the failure.
