Backfiring

backfiring Only in 5th gear i give it gas then it boggs down a little and backfires. Backfiring is a symptom of being too lean, not too rich. Clean your jets, synch the carbs and adjust the PMS.

I have a 1100 V-Star Classic, I have cobra pipes & put on an aftermarket coned air intake. It still idles and cruises good but It pops and dies out if I try to go into higher rpm's.
