old dual fuel oven has gradulally closed with less and less force over time. In the beginning the door could be positioned at varying degrees of "openness" i.e. 1", or 2" etc. now that is not possible

HOtpoint Electric stove/oven we just bought a used (BUT IN GREAT SHAPE) about a yr old range.. the electrical panel comes on but the burner and oven doesnt.. Is there some magic or did we buy a lemon?
