what is an output transistor? My p-965 shuts itself off after 3 secs output tranisister is the transister that give the finial output of sound. some use a output IC for the same purpose.

Take a good look at where thet go into the speaker, sometimes they make contact there. Check driver IC's and audio amp IC's, they usually are screwed down to a heatsink and usually read shorted (zero)
