brakes work the same. The braking system can work without ABS, provided the ABS isn't the problem. When I hear "shorting out" this means to me something is wrong but the person doesn't know what it is

...will stay on as well. Good luck I don't know a whole lot about abs brakes but I think you have to brake really hard to re-activate the abs system. Hopefully someone else can confirm or correct
