KodakAug 25, 2010 - The camera screen displays "Memory card is protected (Reset switch on card). ... The memory card is locked so that data (pictures, videos, or files) ... The disk is write protected." when writing to or formatting an SD card. Share.
Kodak, EasyShare, Max, Perfect Touch, and Pulse are trademarks of Eastman Kodak. Company. ..... Access to more manual settings than Smart Capture mode. ..... NOTE: To delete protected pictures/videos, remove protection before deleting.
When what is open? Always keep the battery / memory card door closed. If it is not closed correct, the camera won't work as expected. To protect the file system, when someone should pul out the memory card, while the camera is accessing the memory, it will or shut down completely, or at least protect the memory card against writing to it.
Before opening the battery / memory card cover, always make sure the camera is completely shut off. That means no light is allowed to burn or flicker. The memory card can also be write protected (SD cards) when the lock switch is down like in the picture on the 32GB card.
Before you can make any picture the switch on the card should be up like on the 64GB card on the picture.
Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.
Look at your memory card. SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.
When you remove the card, the camera is using its built-in internal memory which is very small and won't hold many pictures. Does your card have a slide switch on the side? If so, it should be in the unlocked position.
Have the camera off when connecting the cord...then turn it on. If an icon doesn't appear on your desktop or Windows doesn't offer to open it in a list of programs, open "my computer"...it may be listed as a removable drive that you can double-click on to open. Or, if you use a memory card, just buy a memory card reader and plug that in...works every time.
This error message indicates that the memory card is locked. The switch on the memory card is in the write-protect position. Reset the switch as shown on the camera screen.
